Why do I live with these people?

Somewhere in Fargo: Curiosity

I had to listen to my brother didn’t I? “I bet you can pay off your house sooner if you rent your spare bedroom to me. Hell, rent the basement to other people too and you’ll be rich.” Hypothetically, it is a splendid idea and I don’t have to pay any money out of pocket. Unfortunately, Radley is as proficient at holding a job, as he is with sticking to a major. You would think that someone who has attended college for six years would at least have an associates degree. College isn’t that hard. I started with the PSO program during my junior year of high school, about three years ago and I’m almost done with my double major in International Business and Political Science. Radley really needs to get the boot and make something of himself. Of course, if I do kick him out, our family will lay a horrible guilt trip on me. I consider myself logical, but I am no match against my passive aggressive parents or my crying sister. Lauren is truly the champion of pathetic wailing.

I did not become a member of the MSUS College Libertarians, or get a job as a telephone fundraiser for the Heritage Foundation, to subsidize housing for an able-bodied man with the motivation of a sloth. If I wanted to help lazy leeches, I would’ve voted for the Democrats or joined the PETA Mollusk Rescue Campaign.

Glenn freeloads as well. Thankfully, his father pays for his rent. As long as I get the money, I don’t care where it comes from. Joojet and Sammy rent part of the house as well, but at least they try to work hard to stay on top of things.

I sometimes wonder if the loss of privacy is worth the money. Joojet is quite considerate about giving me my space. The rest of my roommates are annoying busybodies; my brother in particular. Who I date, how I present myself, and other such personal parts of my life, are no one’s business but my own. So why is it that these provincial idiots are so obsessed with my private life? Is there nothing better for them to do here in Fargo than going to the bars and spreading gossip? Perhaps, I would rather not know the answer to that.
